If you’ve been searching for cheap car insurance in Connecticut, you’ve probably discovered that rates can vary wildly from one provider to the next. One this page, you will find the results of our study that compared the insurance premiums of nine top providers. We took our analysis a step further by finding the most affordable rates for the following driver categories:

Are you a safe driver? If you haven’t been involved in any serious collisions, you may be eligible for safe driver rates. Racking up years of accident-free driving is among the best ways to qualify for the absolute cheapest auto insurance in Connecticut because insurers will see you as less of a liability.

Best Rates For Teen Drivers

Because of their inexperience, teenagers are far more accident-prone than adult drivers. That means teens pose more liability risk to auto insurers.

Fortunately, some insurance companies try to attract young drivers in the hopes that they will become lifelong customers. In our study, which involved an 18-year-old motorist with a clean driving record, Amica was found to offer low cost insurance for teenagers in Connecticut. For this driver category, we used the state’s minimum insurance requirements.

Best Rates For Drivers With A DUI

Drinking and driving is a dangerous—and expensive—combination. In addition to paying attorney fees and fines, it is likely that your car insurance premiums will increase after a DUI conviction.

But you shouldn’t have to break the bank to afford coverage. Our researchers determined that Progressive offers the best cheap auto insurance rates in Connecticut for drivers with a DUI that involved a BAC of 0.08.

Best Rates For Senior Drivers

$/month estimate

$105/month estimate

If you or your loved one is a senior and doesn’t drive that often, you can find competitive auto insurance rates by getting a quote from one of these two providers. Geico was determined by our study to offer the best insurance rates for seniors.

STUDY METHODOLOGY

Our default driver was a 29 year old who traveled 12,000 miles annually. Our estimates are based on average monthly car insurance premiums of male and female drivers from five zip codes. The vehicle in our research was a Toyota Corolla model year 2014. In the “senior driver” segment, our hypothetical motorist was 65 years old and drove 4,000 miles per year. Our estimates for all driver types except the “teen driver” category are based on liability coverage of 50/100/25 and 50/100/25 uninsured motorist coverage.

What Is The Minimum Car Insurance Requirement For Motorists In Connecticut?

Connecticut drivers are required to purchase car insurance with the following minimum coverage limits:

  • $20,000 for Bodily Injury Liability per Person
  • $40,000 for Bodily Injury Liability per Accident
  • $$10,000 for Property Damage Liability

Your insurance company is also required to offer you uninsured and underinsured motorist bodily injury coverage with at least the same limits as your liability coverage, but you can request a lesser amount in writing.
