Beautiful beaches, The Appalachian Trail – whether it’s to visit or to settle down, Georgia has a lot to offer. Read on to learn about the most charming cities in The Peach State:
1. Fayetteville
Anyone with green fingers will appreciate the extensive landscaping, floral arrangements and general TLC that has gone into growing the Secret Garden at Prime Community Park. Waterbabies will prefer fishing, boating, and hiking around Lake Horton or Lake Peachtree. Sports-loving families can play football or basketball, and bring a picnic along, at McCurry Park or Glenloch Recreation Complex, or work on their curveball at Hit N Run Batting Cages.
2. Perry
Take it easy with a shaded, one-mile hike along Wellston Trail, or find out where Georgia got its nickname with a meander through the scenic byways of Peach Blossom Trail. If you prefer a more energetic experience, try the many bowling, skating, video game arcades and laser tag options at Rigby’s Entertainment Complex, Gold Cup Bowling Center Inc or Johnny G’s. Olympia Family Fun Center is especially fun, with a bounce house and skating rink – that’s open to over-18s only one night a week.
3. Decatur
Start the day right by reconnecting with the natural world in the gardens and arboretums at Renewal by Nature, or learn more about agritourism at the Wylde Center. Local farmers markets and a range of craft breweries – including Blue Tarp and Three Taverns Brewing – will keep you busy through the afternoon. At night, take your pick between quiet and loud: for date night, complete with live music and quiet corners, you can’t beat Eddie’s Attic – and for a group night on the town, Rockin Road Trip Beer Tours has you covered.
